Former U.S. President Donald Trump invites buyers of his digital collectibles to a dinner at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Trump is facing charges related to his alleged role in attempting to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia, and the pause in court proceedings allowed Trump to host the dinner event for his NFT supporters.
These invitations went out to those who purchased at least 47 of his NFT cards, priced at $99 each.
What is Trump Mugshot NFT Collection?
The Trump Mugshot NFT collection, launched in December 2023, includes digital artwork depicting Trump’s mugshot taken during his August arrest, among other images.
Buyers who purchased 47 or more NFTs were invited to dinner at Mar-a-Lago, while those who purchased 100 or more received access to a cocktail reception prior to the dinner. The event is part of a broader trend where public figures are using NFTs to offer exclusive rewards.
Trump disclosed that his previous NFT projects generated earnings of between $100,000 and $1M. This comes as the NFT market sees renewed interest following a downturn during the crypto winter.
NFTs based on the Bitcoin blockchain, known as Bitcoin Runes, have also contributed to the resurgence.
